Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon to those who live here! Wow! This place is huge, bright, and zooming! There is no lack of action here! The minute we were off the plane, we were thrust into a zoo of people. Before heading to the hotel, a visit to the War Remnants Museum was in order. Outside is loads of equipment of every shape and size, as well as bomb shells and the Tiger Cages where Viet Cong were tortured. Inside is heart wrenching stories of the warfare that took place, as well as information and photos on those repercussions of chemical warfare and the results through generations. The top floor is dedicated to the Requiem Exhibition, a compilation of documents and photos from photographers killed during the war.
After a little time relaxing at the hotel, it was time to venture out for dinner... into the ciaos that is Saigon! Here are just a few pics of the streets, the not so busy ones where I could actually stop to snap a pic without fearing for my life! Note, vehicles, mostly bikes, going in every direction!!!
They even take their pets with them!
Surprisingly enough there's sidewalk to walk on here, most of the time you walk directly beside the bikes!
Ummmm,,,, which one is mine again?
Just crossed the street, and these are all the bikes waiting to go... normally they don't really wait, you just have to weave in and out of them.
Went up the Bitexco Financial Tower for a view of the city on the Saigon Skydeck... from 52 floors up! This building is 262m tall total! These are three successive photos looking out one side... wish it was a bit clearer today!
... as you can see, this is a big city! Had an Espresso Martini while up there... yummmm! When the sun finally set, the night sky was beautiful! The building beside was lit up, and changed colours! The white is the reflection of what is above my head when taking the photo, not outside in the night sky!
Oh, and Kitchener is so up on it's food trucks right now, I couldn't help but snap this one! Even serves bevies! We need one like this!!!
