A few pics from our day at the market and wandering around Hanoi before hitting the midnight train...
Bags and bags and bags of spices, I toured deeper into the market that I ventured to my first day, and found it was actually double the size! ...and the exit on the far side led me to streets and streets of other interesting vendors!
Stopped for a friendly coffee along the way, these suckers are hard to come by here in Vietnam, so I relished every sip! Tried a Vietnam specialty... coffee with condensed milk, it was pretty good!
Took a wander around the park again, and very glad I did, the lotus flowers had started to bloom! My favourite!!!
Also managed to grab a few shots of bikes that seemed a little over loaded! This lady is going though one of the busiest and most confusing intersections with a bike load of fruit! They carry ginormous loads of ANYTHING on the backs of their bikes! It's absolutely insane!
Flowers anyone?
More flowers?
Ok then, no flowers, but how about hats???
Ok, enough shopping, next was the train ride! We knew it would be a doozy, so I popped out to the shops and grabbed a wee bottle of vodka and coke, all I could find! Lucky for me, the bottle of vodka, coke and a large water cost me less than $5 US! What a deal! We headed for the train, but suddenly I realized I hadn't thought this whole thing thru, we had no glasses! Popped into our room again thinking I'd just grab the plastic ones there, but they were glass! All I could find was water bottles.... they'll have to do! I put my trusty swiss army knife to work and voila! A full bar, set a ready for enjoyment! Below, the ladies from left to right, Roeline (front), Carmel, Carrie, Natalie (my roomy), me and Sue! Fine group of women! Oh ya, and that's our room on the train - four of us slept there. Tight quarters!
Stocked bar, ready to roll! Literally!
